Terms of Use & Community Guidelines

1. Acceptance of Terms (EULA)

By registering for or using talkident on iOS, Android, or the web, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or use the speaking, messaging, discovery and learning features. By registering you declare that your age is accurate and that you meet this requirement. Eligibility is based on your declared age; it is not independent identity or age verification.

Private messaging, photos, voice messages and GIFs are available between eligible adult, email-verified accounts without a prior voice call. Delivery and read indicators reflect recipient acknowledgements. A temporary typing indicator shares only whether you are typing, never your unsent text. Community guidelines apply to private messages. Blocking either account prevents further messaging.

Choosing a conversation partner

Eligible adult users can enter a random partner queue or send a named call invitation. Entering the queue authorizes an automatic connection with another eligible queued participant; a separate invitation is not shown for a queue match. Named call invitations require the recipient to accept. These are language-practice features, and the same age and safety restrictions apply to both. Calls can be ended at any time.

2. Community Guidelines & Prohibited Conduct

talkident is an educational community dedicated to practicing spoken English. You agree NOT to engage in any of the following:

• Harassment & Bullying: Insulting, intimidating, stalking, or making unwanted personal remarks toward speaking partners.
• Hate Speech & Discrimination: Attacking or demeaning anyone based on nationality, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
• Sexually Explicit or Inappropriate Content: Engaging in sexually explicit talk, solicitation, or uploading inappropriate profile photos/bios.
• Child Safety: Child sexual abuse or exploitation, grooming, sexual extortion, solicitation involving minors, and creation or sharing of child sexual abuse material are prohibited. See our Child Safety Standards. False-age accounts and suspected underage users may be reported from a profile, conversation or call.
• Spam, Scams & Commercial Solicitation: Advertising products, asking for money, or sharing malicious links.
• Impersonation & False Information: Pretending to be another person or providing fraudulent profile information.

3. Reporting, Blocking & Moderation (User-Generated Content Safety)

To keep every conversation safe and welcoming, talkident provides built-in safety controls:

• Instant In-Call Report & Block: During any live voice call, tap the Report button at the top right, choose a reason, describe what happened, and submit the report. You can also choose to block the partner, which ends your call.
• Message Safety: In a private conversation, open the three-dot menu to block or report the partner. Reports require an explanation and are submitted only when you confirm. Blocking does not submit a report unless you choose to add one.
• Profile-Level Report & Block: You can also report or block any user directly from their public profile page in the Lobby, Rankings, or Call History, and manage blocked users under Settings → Blocked.
• Permanent Matching Protection: While either user maintains a block, the server prevents the two accounts from matching, calling or sending new messages to each other. Unblocking removes that restriction. Existing conversation records are preserved.
• Moderation: Reports are reviewed by the moderation team. Actions depend on the severity and evidence, and may include warnings, restrictions or account suspension.

4. Account Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via Profile → Settings → Account settings → Delete my account or at /delete-account. talkident reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or harm other learners.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

talkident is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis for language education and practice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or specific language learning outcomes.
